Collection: Claddagh Ring

Originating from the small fishing village of Claddagh in Galway, Ireland, this famous symbol of love is widely recognized for its symbols of a heart held by two hands and topped with a crown. These elements epitomize not only the qualities of love (heart), but also friendship (hands), and loyalty (crown). One popular tale recounts the story of Richard Joyce, a fisherman from Galway. Captured and enslaved by Algerian Corsairs around 1675 while en route to the West Indies, Joyce was taught the craft of goldsmithing during his captivity. Upon his release in 1689, he returned home to his true love, presenting her with the very first and original Claddagh ring that he crafted during his ordeal.
